Nikta and Thomas’s wedding ceremony at The Trump Tower, String Quartet, October 20, 2012, Toronto ON

This was our first time performing at the Trump Tower in Toronto, and we had a wonderful time. Everything about this wedding ceremony was spectacular—the couple, venue, the wedding planner (Cynthia is great and we have worked with her in the past), and of course the music. The clients wanted n interesting mix of music, and there choices really reflected this. It is always a thrill for us to play great music, and this ceremony was fun from start to finish. The music choices included classical (such as Bach, and the wonderful Borodin Nocturne from the second string quartet) as well as movie music and even more contemporary music. This wedding perhaps had some of the greatest variety of genres that we have put together for a client, and everything sounded beautiful!

List of wedding music:

a.   Massenet - Meditation from Thais
b.   Secret Garden – Nocturne

Bonnie and Marco’s wedding ceremony at the Chapel of the Old Mill Toronto, violin and cello duo, October 20, 2012, Toronto ON

“I just wanted to send you a quick email and thank you so much for the exquisite string duet at our wedding on October 20th.  It was absolutely perfect and all of our guests were raving about how beautiful the music was.  Thank you also for all of your help coordinating everything leading up to the wedding.  I really appreciate your patience and helpful suggestions along the way.”  Thanks again, Bonnie, bride

The chapel of the Old Mill Toronto is a candle lit version of a 16th century chapel, and is exquisite to look at and also to perform in. We often perform here for wedding ceremonies and we always enjoy performing in this space with it’s well balanced acoustic. For Bonnie and Marco’s ceremony, we performed Pachelbel Canon for the processional, which is a very classic choice and one that we like to recommend as it just works so well. The signing music was the famous Arioso by JS Bach, also an excellent choice, as the signing portion of the ceremony is a great time for introspection, and reflection. This piece suited that mood. Finally for the recessional as the bride and groom walked down the aisle, our violinist and cellist launched into a more modern vein with All You Need is Love by the Beatles.

Shannon and Scott’s wedding ceremony at the chapel of the Old Mill Toronto, October 13, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“We hired Duo d'Amore a sting duo for our wedding at the Old Mill chapel on October 13. The musician's were absolutely amazing!! I can not even express the feeling I had when I heard our wedding song coming down the isle. It brought tears to my eyes. It was absolutely perfect. We picked three custom songs. Nine inch nails - A warm place, Metallica - Nothing else matters, and Foo Fighters- Everlong. The arrangements of these songs, were so beautiful, and fit each part of our ceremony wonderfully. The musicians were on time, dressed appropriately, and were very professional. I wish we had more time to visit with them after the ceremony to express our gratitude for their amazing work.” Shannon, bride

Kristin and Jamie’s wedding ceremony and reception at the Rosewater restaurant, October 13, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“I just wanted to send you a note thanking you and the musicians who performed on my wedding day. They were FANTASTIC - I heard such great compliments about their music. Clair De Lune and the Beatles "Love" both sounded so beautiful. Everything sounded perfect. Thank you again, it was wonderful working with you.“Kristin, bride

This couple chose a great mix of music—starting with classical music from the baroque period to set the tone of the event during the bridesmaids and bridal processional. The signing music moved ahead to the romantic period with Claude Debussy’s Claire de Lune—a piano piece arranged for the violin and cello duo. As it is soft and flowing it worked very well during the contemplative signing of the register. As the couple exited the Rosewater room, the violinist and cellist performed the bright and contemporary All you Need is Love by the Beatles, and to round out the wedding, performed two pieces by Handel that juxtaposed the Beatles in a great way, as both of these songs are quite loud, upbeat and fun.

Processionals: Bach-Gounod: Ave Maria and Bach: Air

Signing: Debussy: Claire de Lune

Ashley and Sean’s wedding at St Mary Immaculate Church, September 29, 2012, string trio, Richmond Hill, ON

Duo d’Amore’s string trio of violin, viola and cello performed for this wedding ceremony at St Mary Immaculate Church. As the ceremony was Catholic, our musicians were able to perform the great standards of the wedding repertoire and really fill the Church with the beautiful, full, expansive sound of the string instruments. After the prelude music, we performed Bach Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring for the five bridesmaids, switching to Pachelbel Canon, after the bridesmaids had taken their place at the front, and as the bride walked down the aisle for her processional. Signing music was very well chosen, as it was the classic Ave Maria. The recessional music is always bright lively and upbeat and for the is the couple walked out to Mendelssohn’s wedding March.

Andrea and Brian’s wedding ceremony at U of T Trinity College Chapel, September 22, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“We've just returned from our Honeymoon. We wanted to write you much earlier as our wedding was on September 22 at Trinity Chapel. Having Duo d'Amore play at our wedding was simply brilliant!! I can't thank you enough as I've never heard a string duo sound so clear and melodic. "Sayuri's Theme" was spectacular. I've listened to that song countless times before, and on that day it never sounded so good. So many of our guests have complimented on how perfect the music was. Please give (the musicians) our warmest Thank You’s from Brian and I”. Andrea and Brian

As you can tell from the picture, this wedding was simply beautiful! We had a lovley time discussing and planning the music for the wedding ceremony with Andre and Brian, and this translated into a wonderful performance, with the bride and groom and everyone in attendance being extremely happy and satisfied. One unique thing about this ceremony was the couple’s choice to use Pachelbel’s Canon. Normally this song is performed during the processional, but I think this is the first time that our musicians have performed it during the signing! And guess what—it was fantastic!

Andrea and Hadley’s wedding ceremony at Graydon hall, September 21, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto

September is a wonderful time to have a wedding, as the extreme heat of July and August has faded into the beautiful warm but slightly cool weather of early fall. Speaking of weather the weather for this outdoor ceremony was perfect—sunny but not too bright and a great temperature throughout the ceremony. Getting to the music, the violin and cello duo performed a very classical, and traditional wedding ceremony at the beautiful garden at Graydon hall. This was a wedding to remember!

Wedding String Trio Burlington ON

There is no question that the city of Burlington has some beautiful venues, but we and our clients always fall hard for Spencer’s. The venue’s angled glass room is very modern, while the service and the attention to detail from the staff has been honed for years, so it’s no secret that we love to perform here. The clients requested a mixture of classical and pop music during the wedding ceremony, with classical coming to the forefront. The bridesmaid’s processional was Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze, and this piece is a beautiful way to ease into the ceremony. As the brie walked down the aisle, the music shifted slightly to a Bach’s Air. This song has a wonderful octave leaps in the bass, which helps to anchor the sound and give the song a great footing to support the soaring and smooth upper line played by the violin. Of course, all of this is accentuated and highlighted by the beautiful acoustic in the room. Still sticking with Bach, the next time the string trio performed in the ceremony was when the papers were being signed. Bach’s Jesu Joy is a natural fit in keeping with the ‘Bach” theme. As the couple exited just after the officiant announced their marriage, we performed the upbeat and exciting (also very popular) Viva la Vida by Coldplay.

Kira and Jakub’s wedding ceremony at Banty’s Roost Country Club, September 8, 2012, violin and cello duo, Caledon ON

Kira and Jakub hired our violin and cello duo to perform for their wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at Banty’s Roost Country Club. The wedding ceremony was outdoors, I must admit that the music selections that were chosen really helped to accentuate and project a fresh outdoor feeling. The first song that started the ceremony was Mouret Rondeau—this song is stately and very easy for the bridesmaids to walk to as it has a clear cut beat. Sometimes the music for the bride will contrast the bridesmaids, but not in this case. Spring by Vivaldi really amped things up and created both a fresh feeling as well as a sense of excitement, which is how it should be for the bride on the wedding day! The signing music took a step back in terms of the vivacity, but also moved into a more lush and rich tonal palette, as our musicians performed the beautiful meditation from Thais by Jules Massenet. With a traditional ending to the ceremony, the bride and groom walked off as husband and wife to Mendellsohn’s wedding march.
