The weather was just wonderful for this ceremony at Deer Creek Golf Course in Ajax. Early October was unseasonably warm with temperatures reaching into the high teens, and hardly a cloud in the sky. During the wedding planning process, I spoke and exchanged emails with Milani the bride, who was just lovely. She was interested in a very classic wedding ceremony with an additional song added. Because this was a Filipino wedding ceremony (which we are very familiar with) there can be a number of additional spots for music. I should also note that every Filipino wedding we have ever performed at has always been one centred on a large loving family—everyone has an amazingly good time.

Wedding ceremony music Ajax/GTA: Duo d’Amore-solos, violin and cello duos, string trios and string quartets
Here is a listing of the music that was performed by our most popular ensemble, the violin and cello duo:
“I wanted to say thank you for playing at my wedding. It was absolutely beautiful and I loved having Metallica play walking down the aisle. Got a lot of comments. I didn’t have a chance to thank them after the ceremony so please do for me.” Raylene, bride
This ceremony was wonderful in a different sort of way, and that’s always exciting for us. The biggest difference between this ceremony and a lot of other wedding ceremonies that we perform at in Canmore or across Canada is that we performed Metallica's Nothing Else Matters in a church. That really does not happen too often so it was quite a fun experience for us, the guests and the bride and groom.
After the processional in the wedding, comes the vows, and just after the vows comes the next portion where music is typically performed: the signing of the register. From Metallica, what music was chosen for this: something else unexpected—the very traditional Bach-Gounod Ave Maria. This works perfect for the signing, as it is both long enough (as signings can last up to 8 minutes) and it is also more laid back. This laid back quality is just what is needed to contrast with the more upbeat recessional. Speaking of the recessional, this often takes place just seconds after the signing, as the officiant introduces the couple. For Raylene and Trevor’s recessional the violin and cello players performed Clarke’s Trumpet Voluntary, to end the beautiful ceremony at the Church of the Rockies with traditional and non-traditional elements.

Wedding ceremony musicians Canmore AB: Duo d’Amore-violin and cello duos, string trios and string quartets
Our violinist and cellist really had a great time performing for this wedding ceremony and reception at Stonefield Heritage Farm. Just look at the huge playlist that the bride and groom had for us! This wedding and reception was a highlight for us, as we had the opportunity to showcase our string ensemble’s modern and pop music, which the guests and bride and groom really enjoyed!

Wedding ceremony musicians and event entertainment Ottawa: Duo d’Amore-string duos, trios and quartets
After performing in over 1000 wedding ceremonies, it’s so great to be surprised and delighted with performing music. Not just new music, but music arranged in a particular way, perhaps used for a different part of the wedding ceremony that is not so common. This wedding was full of surprises. With music by Enya, The Verve, Guns N’ Roses and the theme to Anne of Green Gables this wedding gave us an exciting surprise and a playlist we won’t soon forget!

Wedding Ceremony Music: Duo d’Amore-string duos, trios and quartets
Our violin and cello duo, trio and string quartet play many different kinds of events, though most often, we are hired to perform for a wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and sometimes the dinner as well. It’s not very often when we are hired only for the cocktail hour, but it is actually refreshing to play after the ceremony has ended, as we did at the Cecil Green Park House in Vancouver. This is a great option for brides and grooms that perhaps have the music sorted out for the ceremony, but want something special and unique, as well as upbeat and fun for the cocktail hour. As always we enjoyed every minute and received lost of compliments from the guests!
