Nicole and Michael’s wedding ceremony at The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, violin and cello duo, September 14, 2013, Ottawa ON

Our violinist and cellist performed for an indoor wedding ceremony at the Royal Ottawa Golf and Country Club on September 14th, 2013. The clients trusted us to pick the music selections for the ceremony, which is a nice touch, as it provides them with the knowledge that we will select from our favorite wedding music, and that everyone will enjoy a great performance. That is exactly how things went, and it was a beautiful wedding ceremony. Thanks as well to the great photo taken by Jamie Kronick.

Martha and Colin’s wedding ceremony at Chateau Cartier, violin and cello duo, September 14, 2013, Ottawa ON

Martha and Colin had their wedding ceremony in the Rive Gauche room of the Chateau Cartier in Gatineau. The ceremony was simple and elegant, and the music selections fit in beautifully. Depending on the wedding ceremony, we sometimes perform as many as six of seven separate pieces of music, which is nice in it’s own way, but at a wedding like this, and especially with the romantic nature of the music selections, and the beautiful performance by our string ensemble on violin and cello, a smaller number of songs can make a bigger impact. We performed Bach Air on the G string for the bridal processional, and switched time periods from the baroque to the Romantic period for the famous Meditation rom the opera Thais by the French composer Jules Massenet. This piece is all about the violin, with its soaring any lyrical lines. For the recessional, the couple chose Bittersweet Symphony, which provides a great lift and upbeat quality, which carries over to the music at the cocktail reception. Congratulations!

Processional: Bach Air on the G-string

Guylaine and Tyler’s wedding ceremony at Le Belvedere, violin and cello duo, September 13, 2013, Wakefield QC

Thanks for the services during our ceremony, it was perfect! Tyler, groom

This is a great venue and a wonderful place to hold a wedding ceremony! It also helps when we work with such great clients. Everything at this wedding was exceptional, and we are happy to have provided the music for such a special occasion. As guests were arriving and being seated, the clients specifically requested us to perform Trumpet Voluntary, which we did, alongside a selection of classical music, chosen to suit the mood and volume level of the guests. Even though the ceremony has not started yet, we like to take advantage of the fact that people are in a celebratory mood and select music that has a combination of softness, so that people can still chat and say hi to one another, and more upbeat music, too add to the celebratory and excitement in the air. For the bridesmaids our violinist and cellist performed the famous Air on the G string by Bach, taken from his third orchestral suite. When we received the cue that the bride was ready we started to perform Pachelbel Canon. The cello has the first few seconds of music, then it is joined by the violin. One of the great things that makes this piece of music so popular is that because it is a canon (or round), and the cello repeats the same line for the most part, we can end it at the exact moment the bride gets to the front of the aisle, for a seamless and harmonious finale to the start of the ceremony. As the couple signed the marriage license, our musicians performed the beautiful and flowing unchained melody, which as it is played on the violin and cello sounds a bit like a classical piece of music, but everyone that knows this song will recognize it instantly. Adding even more to the fun and excitement and modern quality of the wedding, we performed Bittersweet Symphony as the couple exited the ceremony. What a beautiful Day!

“The music sounded amazing!  Thank you for being a part of our special day.  I would definitely recommend Duo d'Amore to any bride in the future! Thank you so much for your hard work.” Fiona and Andrew

We really enjoy performing at wedding ceremonies, as each one is different. We meet different couples, perform different music and in general have a whole new experience. This wedding was highlighted buy the modern music the clients chose for their special day, and I am glad that they were able to take advantage of  Duo d’Amore to play these beautiful songs! A special thank you to Restaurant 18 and the coordinator Steph, she did a great job!

A wonderfully harmonious chord was heard as the bride took the final steps up to the front of the aisle to greet her soon to be husband, as Duo d’Amore’s musicians finished playing Pachelbel’s Canon. The violinist and cellist picked up their instruments again to serenade the guests and during the signing of the register with Vivaldi’s Winter from the Four Seasons. Shortly after the officiant was proud t announce the bride and groom and introduce them for the first time as husband and wife. Amid clapping and cheering from guests we performed an equally exciting rendition of La Rejouissance from the Royal Fireworks by Handel.

Karina and Matthew’s wedding ceremony at St Mark’s Anglican Church, violin and cello duo, August 24, Ottawa ON

As much as we enjoy performing outdoors for weddings in the summer, it is a real pleasure to perform indoors at church. The other pleasure of the day was helping to make Matthew and Karina’s wedding really special. During the prelude, we selected a number of mellow pieces of classical music, including Bach Air, which somehow has a light summer feel to it. For the attendants Duo d’Amore performed Pachelbel Canon, followed by a special arrangement of an interesting song requested by the bride and groom: Moments with Oliver, which they were thrilled to have performed by the violinist and cellist. The next piece that we performed was Meditation from the Opera Thaïs, by Massenet, and it provide a contrast with the brides processional. Rounding out the ceremony we performed Bach’s Jesu Joy.

Rhiannon and Ben’s wedding ceremony, violin and cello duo, August 17, Chateau Laurier Ottawa ON

Rhiannon and Ben chose pop music for their ceremony and we were happy to accommodate, as always. The ceremony took place in the Adam room of the Chateau Laurier. The bridesmaids walked down the aisle to “A Thousand Years” by Christina Perry with the bride following with “Kissing You”, otherwise known as the Theme from Romeo and Juliet. As the signing can sometimes take five or six minutes, two songs were chosen for this part of the ceremony: “I Won’t Give Up” and “Yellow” by Coldplay. Bruno Mars’ “I Think I Wanna Marry You”, was heard as the recessional.

Sandy and Pawel’s wedding ceremony at Blessed Sacrament Church, violin & cello duo, August 3, 2013, Ottawa ON

The bride and groom were married in the spacious and striking Blessed Sacrament Church in Ottawa. As we have performed at this venue in the past, the ceremony flowed effortlessly. Erica and Jon’s wedding ceremony at Rockcliffe Park Pavilion, violin and cello duo, August 3, 2013, Ottawa ON

Rockcliffe Park Pavilion is an ideal spot for live music, especially a wedding ceremony! Our violin and cello duo performed two songs for the processional—one for the bridesmaids (Trumpet Tune) and a separate song for the bride to make her grand entrance (Pachelbel Canon). When the time came for the signing of the register our violinist and cellist performed the wedding classic Ave Maria (the Bach-Gounod version) and quickly switched to Mendelsohn’s wedding March as the newlyweds walked down to aisle.

Bride: Canon in D
