“The musicians were fantastic. Although Christine and I did not get much of a chance to hear them play (we were getting pictures done), everyone commented on how wonderful it was to hear them play at the cocktail hour and the ceremonyChristine and Henry

Tanya and Alex’s wedding ceremony and reception at Strathmere Inn, string duo, July 26, 2013, North Gower ON

We always like performing at Strathmere Inn, as the staff are so nice and accommodating, and Alex and Tanya’s wedding was no exception. We started the ceremony with the U2 classic All I want is you—this made the bride’s entrance quite special, as it is easy to make a grand entrance with this music as the soundtrack. For the signing of the register, our violinist and cellist performed Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love. The ceremony ended with raucous applause to Beautiful Day, also by U2. We also performed an interesting variety of upbeat music during the cocktail reception following the wedding ceremony.

Shandi and Ryan’s wedding ceremony and cocktail reception, violin and cello duo, July 20 Almonte ON

Duo d’Amore performed a beautiful ceremony and cocktail reception at the herb Garden in Almonte, ON. This venue is just a few minutes outside of Ottawa, and made for a tranquil and memorable occasion. Pachelbel Canon in D was performed as the bride walked in the lush grass towards the groom, at the elegant, white Victorian gazebo. Bach’s Wachet Auf and Handel’s Hornpipe followed for the signing and recessional. After the ceremony, the cocktail reception was held outdoors. Our violinist and cellist performed under the porch area of an old log cabin, and received many enthusiastic comments from the guests. One again, it was a pleasure to perform at such a lovely outdoor wedding ceremony and reception. Congratulations Shandi and Ryan!

Kristen and Anthony’s wedding ceremony at the Museum of Nature, violin and cello duo, June 29, 2013, Ottawa ON

Thank you for the excellent performance at our wedding on June 29th at the Museum of Nature. It turned out exactly as we hoped thanks to you.  Your rendition of La Vie en Rose was beautiful and I particularly appreciate that you were able to accompany my dear friend Rosanne as she sang Ave Maria on fairly short notice. “ Kristen & Anthony

This review says it all. We were glad to perform at this wedding ceremony, and always happy to do our best for any last minute changes or additions. In his case we were able to accompany a friend of the bride and groom who sang during the ceremony, and we received many compliments.

We often perform at St Anthony’s Church on Booth St in Ottawa, and Melissa and Matt’s ceremony was another beautiful event. Many guests arrived early for the ceremony, so we started to play a selection of additional music prior to the start of the wedding ceremony. When the ceremony started, the flow and timing of everything was incredible. As wee knew the number of bridesmaids that were walking down the aisle it was easy for us to end the first piece of music which was Charpentier’s Prelude from Te Deum at exactly the right point, right when the final bridesmaid took her place. Similarly for the rest of the ceremony (most importantly the bridal processional) everything else went exceptionally well, as our playing filled the warn acoustic of the Church. The signing was the popular Bach Gounod Ave Maria, which was followed by The Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn.

Miriam and Jason’s wedding ceremony at the Navy Officer’s Mess, violin and cello duo, January 19, 2013, Ottawa ON

Our string duo performed for a lovely winter wedding ceremony. Regarding music for the wedding, the bride wanted to walk down the aisle to Bach Air on the G string, which we think creates a feeling of both richness to the sound but there is also a fresh quality to the music that is timeless. For the music during the signing and recessional, as well as the prelude and postlude music the clients were kind enough to let us select something appropriate. This is a nice gesture and one that helps create a sense of surprise on the wedding day.

Sarah and Shane’s wedding in the Heritage room of the Fairmont Chateau Montebello, November 17, 2012, violin and cello duo, Montebello, QC

Chateau Montebello is beautiful at any time of the year, but late fall is always wonderful. Sarah and Shane had a lovely ceremony. Their song selections combined baroque elegance with romantic richness. Starting with the bridesmaids, our violinist and cellist performed Mouret’s Rondeau, which many people know as the theme to Masterpiece Theatre. For Sarah, the bride, the string duo performed Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (this is where the richness comes is, as it sounds lovely with the violin and cello) and finally for the recessional we ventured back into baroque territory with the exuberant second hornpipe from Handel’s Water Music.
