Toronto wedding Violinist at Enoch Turner Schoolhouse

The bride and groom were married in the historic Enoch Turner Schoolhouse, founded in 1849 as a school for Irish immigrants, many of them fleeing the great famine in Ireland-the the theme of a new and happier life runs through the very foundation of the building. First for immigrants seeking educations, and now for brides and grooms looking for anew life together! The prelude started with light classical music, with our violinist performing Vivaldi’s Spring from the four seasons as a highlight among other pieces. At the start of the ceremony, the bridesmaids walked in to the stately Charpentier Prelude from Te Deum, and the violin player seamlessly switched to the Wagner Bridal March, as the bride processed down the aisle, up to the front. For the signing oft the marriage license, Bach’s Wachet Auf was played, and this is always a nice choice for the signing, as it flows very well, but does not overshadow anything. As the couple was first presented as man and wife, Handel’s loud, fast and exciting music from the royal fireworks, a hornpipe dance was expertly performed to a happy audience.

Niagara Wedding String Trio: Nicole and Mark at Ravine Vineyard

“The trio were excellent. Set up in plenty of time and played all of the songs we requested beautifully... Couldn't have asked for more!”

The next day, Duo d’Amore was back at Ravine Vineyard, this time with a string trio of two violins and cello to perform for Mark and Nicole’s wedding. This wedding could not have been more different, though it was equally fantastic, and very dramatic. Ravine has two sites where couples can get married: the site we performed at the day before is situated just around the corner from the parking lot (this is actually much better than it sounds) and affords a beautiful uninterrupted view of greenery: vines, trees, fresh cut grass, and more an more vines. The site that we performed at for this wedding is in a way more intimate, and it is located at the bottom of the vineyard. Guests arrived here either by walking along a designated row in the vineyard, or were shuttled directly to their seats via a golf cart driven by the staff at Ravine. Then came the helicopter! The groom arrived at the upper ceremony site via a helicopter, which was certainly a dramatic and bold way to arrive at a wedding ceremony! By this time we had setup down the hill, and were expecting the first set of guests to arrive. We performed a number of musical selections and carried onto the ceremony, as soon as the wedding guests were in place. For the processional, we performed two songs the Beatles’ “Here There And Everywhere” for the 8 attendants, and the Etta James classic, At Last. During the signing, we performed Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World”. As we looked over to the signing table, the bride and groom were smiling at us and gave a wide grinned nod of approval. To conclude the ceremony, the trio played “All I Want Is You” by U2. We continued to play a few pieces of music as the guests exited back to the main building. As we were exiting, we congratulated the bride and groom, who said we did a fantastic job!

Wedding String Ensembles Kingston: Danielle and Dany

If there is a trend in the wedding industry, I would say that more and more couples are going outside of the box, and customizing and choosing elements of the wedding, whether flowers, attire, venues, readings and specially music that combines classic elegance with elements of contemporary and popular culture. While there are many more decisions for the clients to make, the result is often spectacular, especially of they have a wedding planner or in our case Duo d’Amore who can help guide them in choosing music so that it has the right fit for the client and for a wedding ceremony. In this respect Danielle and Dany did an excellent job!

Looking at the two modern songs by Enya and the Verve, they have a classical feel to them, but also are different enough to add a bit of additional excitement to the wedding ceremony.
