Eaton Hall is many things—known as Canada’s Downton Abbey, a location for film and tv shoots, the former home of Lady Eaton (of T. Eaton fame) and of course a wonderful Toronto wedding venue. Our string ensembles (violin and cello duo, string trio and string quartet) always enjoy performing for weddings at Eaton Hall, and Sabrina and Marc’s wedding was spectacular. The music that they chose for the ceremony was well suited to the castle like atmosphere of the surroundings, as the classical music they chose felt right at home amongst the architectural splendor of the house. The ceremony started off with a fanfare—the musicians performed Purcell’s Trumpet Tune for the entrance of the bridesmaids, and transitioned to the traditional bridal Chorus by Wagner. After the vows, the couple and attendants signed the register to the slightly upbeat but well chosen Wachet Auf (Sleepers Awake) by J.S. Bach. Rounding out the ceremony, the newlywed’s exited in style to Mendelsohn’s wedding March.
