Lynda and John’s wedding ceremony in the Windows Room of Inn on the Twenty, November 24, 2012, violin and cello duo, Jordan ON

There is something special about the venues owned and operated by Cave Spring, from the vineyard sites to the Windows room—the views are so sweeping and grand, unlike any other places that we have performed at in Niagara. Somehow, the Windows room is also organized so that guests can comfortably sit during the ceremony, go across the hall for the cocktail reception, and move back into the windows room to enjoy the view. This may sound like other venues, but it’s not—things are so close and always well organized. We really enjoy performing here and Lynda and John’s wedding was no exception. The ceremony music consisted of all classical music that went brilliantly. Pachelbel Canon was performed at Lynda walked down the aisle. The signing music was ever richer and layered—the famous Ave Maria by Bach Gounod was heard, and them everything lightened up for the recessional with Vivaldi’s Autumn (the first movement) performed as everything walked down to aisle into the corridor.

Vicki and Chuck’s wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at the Grand Hall of the Table Rock Welcome Centre, November 24, 2012, violin and cello duo, Niagara Falls, ON

Chuck and I just wanted to thank you for doing such a wonderful job with your team at our wedding in Niagara Falls on November 24, 2012. The music was so beautiful I still tear up I hear it. I really appreciate all the time and effort you took in picking out the perfect songs including “Accidentally in Love” last minute. Everyone loved the music and had such a wonderful time. Thank you again and we wish you all the best! Vicki and Chuck, bride and groom

Vicky and Chuck were amazing to work with. We had a wonderful time discussing and customizing the music selections for their ceremony. Also, they worked really hard to achieve a beautiful setting for there wedding ceremony. If you have never been to the Table Rock Welcome Center before, the ground floor consists of tourist shops as you would expect at Niagara Falls. However, the second floor was virtually transformed into a candle lit dream during the ceremony. Add the fact that the large windows in the room had great views of both the Horseshoe and American Falls, and it is easy to imagine how beautiful this wedding was. For music, the couple wanted their guests to feel happy and warm and have a good time and enjoy the wedding. They wanted the ceremony to be classy, elegant and romantic, and the songs they chose really complemented everything. Following the ceremony we stayed to perform a one-hour cocktail reception. We received many comments and the wedding and reception were incredibly memorable. Congratulations!

Sarah and Shane’s wedding in the Heritage room of the Fairmont Chateau Montebello, November 17, 2012, violin and cello duo, Montebello, QC

Chateau Montebello is beautiful at any time of the year, but late fall is always wonderful. Sarah and Shane had a lovely ceremony. Their song selections combined baroque elegance with romantic richness. Starting with the bridesmaids, our violinist and cellist performed Mouret’s Rondeau, which many people know as the theme to Masterpiece Theatre. For Sarah, the bride, the string duo performed Wagner’s Bridal Chorus (this is where the richness comes is, as it sounds lovely with the violin and cello) and finally for the recessional we ventured back into baroque territory with the exuberant second hornpipe from Handel’s Water Music.

Nikta and Thomas’s wedding ceremony at The Trump Tower, String Quartet, October 20, 2012, Toronto ON

This was our first time performing at the Trump Tower in Toronto, and we had a wonderful time. Everything about this wedding ceremony was spectacular—the couple, venue, the wedding planner (Cynthia is great and we have worked with her in the past), and of course the music. The clients wanted n interesting mix of music, and there choices really reflected this. It is always a thrill for us to play great music, and this ceremony was fun from start to finish. The music choices included classical (such as Bach, and the wonderful Borodin Nocturne from the second string quartet) as well as movie music and even more contemporary music. This wedding perhaps had some of the greatest variety of genres that we have put together for a client, and everything sounded beautiful!

List of wedding music:
1.    PRELUDE

a.   Massenet - Meditation from Thais
b.   Secret Garden – Nocturne
c.    Morricone - Love theme from Cinema Paradiso

3.    REFLECTION 1

Wedding duo trio quartet Kanata

I just wanted to write you a quick note and commend you and your musicians for a fantastic job at our wedding. I was only able to catch half the show myself but from what I heard from my guests, it was amazing. Thanks again for helping to make our BIG day spectacular! Sandra, bride

Sandra and Joseph’s wedding was very traditional and beautiful, and the music perfectly complimented the ceremony. In our initial correspondence, the bride already knew that she wanted to walk down the aisle to Pachelbel’s Canon, and chose a number of additional songs to complement this selection. Particularly nice was the addition of an additional choice at the end of the ceremony. Although we always perform music as the guests exit, in this case the bride and groom chose a wonderful selection by the baroque composer Charpentier. This was a great choice, as it is always nice to see clients that are looking after their guests on the wedding day.

Janice and Santiago’s wedding ceremony at the RA centre, violin and cello duo, October 20, 2012, Ottawa ON

I just wanted to write and let you know how wonderful the music was at my wedding.  I received countless compliments and my mother almost cried during Ave Maria! Thank you for your professionalism and your extraordinary gift of music! Kind regards, Janice, bride

A short while after this wedding ceremony, we received this wonderful note from the bride thanking us for the performance. Something that is important to mention regarding the selection of music, is that while many couples put a lot of thought into the processional song, it is often the song during the signing that will resonate to the greatest effect with the guests. The processional is exciting as the bride walks down the aisle, and while the music adds to that experience, truthfully, it’s all about the bride. The signing however has the bride and groom as well as the witnesses busy with the documents and leaves the guests a very nice moment for contemplation. So—music becomes very important, and when you have a great arrangement of a song as well as great performers and an extremely experienced and professional group of wedding musicians like Duo d’Amore, the signing (as well as the rest of the event) will sound amazing which no one will fail to notice and appreciate.

Bonnie and Marco’s wedding ceremony at the Chapel of the Old Mill Toronto, violin and cello duo, October 20, 2012, Toronto ON

“I just wanted to send you a quick email and thank you so much for the exquisite string duet at our wedding on October 20th.  It was absolutely perfect and all of our guests were raving about how beautiful the music was.  Thank you also for all of your help coordinating everything leading up to the wedding.  I really appreciate your patience and helpful suggestions along the way.”  Thanks again, Bonnie, bride

The chapel of the Old Mill Toronto is a candle lit version of a 16th century chapel, and is exquisite to look at and also to perform in. We often perform here for wedding ceremonies and we always enjoy performing in this space with it’s well balanced acoustic. For Bonnie and Marco’s ceremony, we performed Pachelbel Canon for the processional, which is a very classic choice and one that we like to recommend as it just works so well. The signing music was the famous Arioso by JS Bach, also an excellent choice, as the signing portion of the ceremony is a great time for introspection, and reflection. This piece suited that mood. Finally for the recessional as the bride and groom walked down the aisle, our violinist and cellist launched into a more modern vein with All You Need is Love by the Beatles.

Shannon and Scott’s wedding ceremony at the chapel of the Old Mill Toronto, October 13, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“We hired Duo d'Amore a sting duo for our wedding at the Old Mill chapel on October 13. The musician's were absolutely amazing!! I can not even express the feeling I had when I heard our wedding song coming down the isle. It brought tears to my eyes. It was absolutely perfect. We picked three custom songs. Nine inch nails - A warm place, Metallica - Nothing else matters, and Foo Fighters- Everlong. The arrangements of these songs, were so beautiful, and fit each part of our ceremony wonderfully. The musicians were on time, dressed appropriately, and were very professional. I wish we had more time to visit with them after the ceremony to express our gratitude for their amazing work.” Shannon, bride

Rossano and Ana’s wedding ceremony at Madonna della Risurrezione Church, October 13, 2012, violin and cello duo, Ottawa ON

“Thank you – the musicians were prompt, friendly, and the music was beautiful. Thank you again for your assistance on such short notice.” Bride and groom

Our violinist and cellist performed an inspiring selection of traditional classic wedding music for a catholic ceremony at the beautiful Madonna della Risurezione church in Ottawa. While we often perform at the front of the Church, in this case we performed on the balcony level. This is also a great option, as it can be quite a surprise for the guests when the music starts! Playing from the balcony also creates a particular quality of sound, aided by the church’s acoustics where the sound seems to move around the building and almost float down to the guests below. It is really remarkable, and works best with songs selections like Ave Maria and the Wagner and Mendelssohn wedding marches.

Kristin and Jamie’s wedding ceremony and reception at the Rosewater restaurant, October 13, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“I just wanted to send you a note thanking you and the musicians who performed on my wedding day. They were FANTASTIC - I heard such great compliments about their music. Clair De Lune and the Beatles "Love" both sounded so beautiful. Everything sounded perfect. Thank you again, it was wonderful working with you.“Kristin, bride

This couple chose a great mix of music—starting with classical music from the baroque period to set the tone of the event during the bridesmaids and bridal processional. The signing music moved ahead to the romantic period with Claude Debussy’s Claire de Lune—a piano piece arranged for the violin and cello duo. As it is soft and flowing it worked very well during the contemplative signing of the register. As the couple exited the Rosewater room, the violinist and cellist performed the bright and contemporary All you Need is Love by the Beatles, and to round out the wedding, performed two pieces by Handel that juxtaposed the Beatles in a great way, as both of these songs are quite loud, upbeat and fun.
