The Oakes Garden Theatre is quite a popular wedding location, as it overlooks Niagara Falls. For Joanna and Matthew’s ceremony, they selected music that complemented a springtime morning wedding. Starting the processional (two flower girls and one ring bearer) with Bach stars things off right, Following that was the mother’s processional set to another piece by Bach-Jesu Joy.  For the bride’s entrance, something a little more modern fit nicely with Elvis. The signing is a point in the ceremony where the music can be a bit more subdued, and a perfect choice is an arrangement by the French composer Gounod of another piece by Bach, the famous Ave Maria. And to finish, Bittersweet Symphony!

Rachel and Rohann’s wedding ceremony Saturday May 21, 2016 at Sunnybrook Estates, violin and cello duo

“Thank you so much for all your help and your well wishes! The music was beautiful!” Rachel, bride

Rachel and Rohann’s wedding was simply inspiring-beautiful weather, gorgeous venue, and an incredible couple!  Amazing photos are available at: http://www.gillianfoster.ca/estates-of-sunnybrook-wedding/

There is something about a spring wedding that is just so life affirming, everything is green and fresh and wonderfully bright. The ceremony took place at the McLean House of Sunnybrook estates on the morning of May 21. This is a venue that we are very familiar with, and it was great to be back.  In speaking to Rachel about the music selections, she and Rohann came up with a very interesting, and eclectic combination of songs, which fit the parts of the ceremony extremely well:

Prelude: Here Comes the Sun: The Beatles
Marry You: Bruno Mars
Sweet Child o Mine: Guns n Roses
All You Need is Love: The Beatles
Viva la Vida: Coldplay

Processional (Includes Just Groom's Parents and Groom):
Can't Help Falling in Love: Elvis

Bride song (Includes Just Bride's Parents, Flower Girl, and Bride):
Here, There, Everywhere: The Beatles

Signing: Edelweiss and In My Life: The Beatles (if time)

2016 has been a great year!

Before the New Year arrives, I like to take a few moments to look back on the previous year, and 2016, was certainly a great year. Although 2016 is almost over, I can safely say that it was our best year yet--full of fantastic wedding and corporate performances, with fantastic violinists, violists and cellists and  great chamber music performances with the violin and cello duo, string trio and string quartet.

2016 was a year of fantastic clients (as always) and an opportunity for us to work with fantastic venues (hotels, wineries, restaurants etc) and  wedding planners and event planners.

We are extremely excited for 2017, and can't wait to see what the next year brings!

Warm regards,

Matthew Hayes,

Wedding Violin and Cello Duo: Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory

This wedding goes on record as one of the earliest that we have performed, as Kevin and Lesley were married at 8:30 in the morning! It was also very special, as it truly felt different from any other wedding. As well the venue was amazing. The ceremony took place in the Cambridge Butterfly Conservatory, and really should be experienced to be believed. What a great choice of venue. Now, on to our specialty—the music!

The ceremony was built around Disney music, and was exceptionally well chosen to suit the different moods and timings during the wedding.  We have a great arrangement of several Disney songs from seven or eight films, and each song flows seamlessly into each other. This is what greeted guests as they entered, and it certainly created a wonderful atmosphere for everyone. At the start of the ceremony, the wedding party walked in to (the very appropriate) A Whole New World, and the bride followed with Tale as Old as Time from Beauty and the Beast. At the end of the wedding ceremony everyone walked out to the Imperial March from Star Wars, to conclude this beautiful early morning wedding.

Disney Medley - While guests are taking their seats.

A Whole New World - For Processional (Groom & Mother, Mother of the bride & Flower Girl, Best Lady, Bridesmaid and Maid of Honour)

Tale as Old as Time - Bride & Father

Imperial March - Recessional

Wedding cocktail violinist cellist Toronto

This wedding took place at the Royal Canadian Yacht Club, on Toronto Island, and Duo d’Amore was excited and honoured to be a part of such a beautiful day. To add to the beauty and seamlessness the event was flawlessly planned by Shealyn Angus of Bliss Events (whom we work with as often and possible). From the musical side of things, which is of course our specialty, we had the opportunity to work with the bride in choosing the music for the ceremony:

Bridesmaids Processional: Bach Air

Bride: A Thousand Years

Signing: Bach Jesu Joy of Mans Desiring

Recessional: Beautiful Day

Theses selections work really well together, as the classical selections played and compared and contrasted with the more modern songs, to give the whole ceremony an air of tradition, complemented by a more modern sound. After the ceremony, the string duet gracefully switched locations to where the cocktail reception was taking place, and continued to play. Just before their departure, the bride thanked them for a great job.

Violinist Cellist String Quartet Montebello QC

Chateau Montebello is a rustic yet high-end venue, perfect for a wedding indoors or outdoors. We have performed here many times, and it is always a treat. Pamela and Guillaume had their ceremony outdoors just in front of the gazebo. Just before the start of the ceremony, we performed a selection of pop songs (Wonderful Tonight, Top Gun Anthem, Nothing Else Matters, and Fields of Gold, which really set the mood for this wedding. As the ceremony started our musicians performed a new classic: Pachelbel canon for the bridesmaids (instead of the bride) followed by the rich sounding flowing music of A Thousand Years. We love the trend for adding pop music in wedding ceremonies, and this is such a classy way to do it! These songs really work well. For the signing of the register the violinist and cellist performed Bach’s Jesu Joy, which added a timeless feel, but injected a bit of energy and pulse which ultimately was paired nicely with the traditional wedding march to conclude the ceremony, as the couple walked out as husband and wife!

May 16th was such a beautiful and sunny day—perfect for an outdoor spring wedding! The ceremony and reception took place at the beautiful Oban Inn in Niagara on the lake. The ceremony was held outdoors just in front of a lovely gazebo, surrounded by attractive manicured grounds. We arrived early (as always) and found a spot to park on a nearby street –and we didn’t mind the walk as we passed many stately and historic houses—some from the late 18th century! We immediately said hello to Meagan from Weddings Tied with Lace  (we always enjoy working with her) and setup our stands and the staff brought us two chairs. Soon enough, the guests began to arrive, and we started to play some light prelude music to help set the mood. When the officiant and groomsmen were at the front of the “aisle” signaling that the bridesmaids were in position, we started off the ceremony with a beautiful rendition of Pachelbel’s Canon. When all the bridesmaids have commenced their walk, we expertly switched to Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love for the bridal processional. For the signing of the register the violinist and cellist changed back to classical music, with Bach’s Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, and ended the ceremony triumphantly with a fun version of Here Comes the Sun by the Beatles. Just following the bride and Grooms exit, we continued to play for a few minutes, escorting the guests out of their seats with more music. At this point the guests made their way indoors for a cocktail reception, and we continued to perform for this portion of the day, all the way through dinner. We received many compliments, and were glad to participate in such  a beautiful wedding day!
