Wildfire smoke at wedding ceremony in Alberta 2018

Duo d'Amore's string ensembles have performed in many venues and under many circumstances: we have performed on beaches, on mountaintops, at both the atlantic and pacific coasts, on the prairies, at vineyards, on ships, on trains, but this weekend was a first for us--we performed amidst the smoke from wildfires at two different wedding ceremonies in and around Canmore AB. This certainly made for a unique and memorable experience, one that the bride and groom as well as the guests will remember for the rest of their lives. Tourism operators in the area haven't agreed if the wildfires and smoke is having an impact on business, but judging from the fact that wedding ceremonies are still taking place, people are trying their best to go on despite and setbacks. One thing to note is that if you are travelling in the Canmore/Banff area please consult www.banfflakelouise.com  for up to date information on weather conditions/ road closures etc.

We love happy clients, and love getting reviews of our performances. The latest review comes from Amanda, a bride who was married at St Charles Borreomeo church in Toronto. Here is what she had to say about the performance of Duo d'Amore's violin and cello duo:

Outstanding Performance, beautiful music!

Outstanding performance! The team played beautifully during our wedding ceremony. Very organized and very responsive to e-mails. Fairmont Chateau Montebello Wedding Dongyuan & Shifeng

The weather for this wedding ceremony at Fairmont Montebello could not have been more perfect—sunny, and not too hot, just what everyone hopes for their wedding day. The ceremony music featuring our violinist and cellist was also out of a fairy tale, as it was light and elegant with both standard and not so standard classical music, as well as Elvis’s Can’t Help Falling in love, which brought a modern touch to this very beautiful ceremony.

It was great working with Ange and Steve on their wedding ceremony and cocktail reception at the Hacienda Sarria in Kitchener, as well as their planner Ainsley from fresh look designs. This is a venue that we perform at quite a bit, and it was great to be back. For music, Ange and Steve had a more traditional ceremony, incorporating classical music for the string trio (2 violins and cello) featuring music by Bach in the Air from the third orchestral suite, Pachelbel Canon for the brides walk down the aisle and another piece by Bach for the signing of the register, his Wachet Auf or Sleepers Awake. Then for a fun twist, We are the Champions by Queen for the recessional. When it came time for the reception, we really kicked things up with modern pop music for the strings including the Game of Thrones Theme, some Counting Crows, Foo Fighters, Etta James, Black Eyed Peas—a whole bunch of really upbeat and interesting music, exactly what they wanted. It was a great night, and we can’t wait to be back!

Niagara Wedding String Quartet: Tiffany + Michael

The weather was perfect for this outdoor wedding at Konzelmann Estate Winery.  Tiffany and Michael hired our largest ensemble, the string quartet, which provides the maximum volume and richness of sound, and it really helped to create lasting memories for the bride and groom as well as the guests.  The ceremony music was all pop music, and we were excited to perform fantastic arrangements.

Niagara/Ancaster wedding music–Duo d’Amore’s latest review

We often receive lovely reviews from clients, and I though I would take the opportunity to share our latest review. This is from Megan, and we were thrilled to provide a violin and cello duo for her wedding ceremony at the Ancaster Mill on September 2, 2017.

It was a pleasure working with you and we cannot say enough great things about your musicians and your services. The music was absolutely perfect and really filled up the space. It was the perfect addition to our ceremony. All our guests raved about the music and how wonderful it was. I am recommending you to all our friends that are getting married in the coming years.

Thank you again for all of your help leading up to and on our wedding day. Your services were wonderful!

We love clients like Kaitlyn and Cole as they were extremely excited to have Duo d’Amore perform a fantastic selection of music at their wedding ceremony at Hockley Valley. As the guests arrived the violin and cello duet performed modern pop music, with songs including Fields of Gold, I Think I Wanna Marry you, River Flows in You and others. When the officiant, parents and groomsmen were ready, we performed You Raise Me Up, making a smooth transition into Beyonce’s Halo for the four bridesmaids. For the bride the strings performed a lovely rendition of Pachelbel Canon for a traditional touch. When the couple signed the marriage license, we moved back to pop music with Elvis’ Can’t Help Falling in Love. When the couple was pronounced man and wife and the wedding party exited, w performed Viva la Vida, to add a lovely touch to a memorable wedding ceremony!
