Calgary Wedding String Ensemble. Amber and Vaughan’s wedding at the CPR Railway Pavilion July 20, Calgary AB. This was Duo d’Amore’s first time performing a wedding ceremony at the CPR Railway Pavilion in Calgary. As I have mentioned in the past, venues other than Churches (though we love playing in beautiful venues with amazing acoustics) can be exceptional spaces to hold weddings and events. Why? Clients get much more of a say in how the ceremony goes, and for us we enjoy it because clients can choose different music from what they might choose if the wedding ceremony takes place in a Church. Amber and Vaughan did just that—they chose an eclectic mix of music that went perfectly with the wedding ceremony.

How many songs do you perform at a wedding ceremony?
We always feel that the more music, the better! Depending on what you would like and the type of wedding ceremony you are having, here is what we recommend for a ceremony?
Prelude (as guests arrive) 3-5 songs
Processional: 1 or 2 songs (1 song for both the wedding party and bride or 1 song for wedding party, another song for bride)
The wedding part and bridal party music can really be anything, but a contrast between the wedding party and bride is recommended.
Signing: 1 classical song, or 2 pop songs
The signing is the portion of the ceremony where the marriage documents are signed by the bride, groom, officiant and witnesses. Generally, slower more contemplative music is chosen for this portion.
Recessional: 1 song
This is the part of the ceremony where the bride and groom exit the venue, and upbeat, fun and exciting music really helps to create a festive mood.
Can you perform after the ceremony as well?
Yes, our ensembles can perform during the cocktail hour, the first dance, dinner etc.
