Wedding Violinist Cellist Caledon: Sabrina and Sean

We have performed here in all seasons, but with the weather we’ve been having recently—not too hot, little wind, it is  a perfect opportunity for our string musicians to perform at an outdoor wedding in a beautiful lakeside setting in Caledon, just north of Toronto. This wedding was a great combination of natural beauty and classical music—always a great pairing. Here are the song selections that the bride and groom chose:

Bridal Party: Clarke: Trumpet Voluntary
Bride: Pachelbel Canon
Signing: Bach: Jesu Joy
Recessional: Mouret Rondeau
Reception: Classical and Pop music

Aside from the musical performance and the venue, Nancy at WEDECOR took care of the all the printing, invitations, programs, table numbers seating chart they did all the flower arrangements: bouquet, corsage, boutonniere centerpiece, large arrangements. For the ceremony/reception all chair covers, linens, aisle runner all set-up and taken away by our design team.

Niagara Wedding String Trio: Nicole and Mark at Ravine Vineyard

“The trio were excellent. Set up in plenty of time and played all of the songs we requested beautifully... Couldn't have asked for more!”

The next day, Duo d’Amore was back at Ravine Vineyard, this time with a string trio of two violins and cello to perform for Mark and Nicole’s wedding. This wedding could not have been more different, though it was equally fantastic, and very dramatic. Ravine has two sites where couples can get married: the site we performed at the day before is situated just around the corner from the parking lot (this is actually much better than it sounds) and affords a beautiful uninterrupted view of greenery: vines, trees, fresh cut grass, and more an more vines. The site that we performed at for this wedding is in a way more intimate, and it is located at the bottom of the vineyard. Guests arrived here either by walking along a designated row in the vineyard, or were shuttled directly to their seats via a golf cart driven by the staff at Ravine. Then came the helicopter! The groom arrived at the upper ceremony site via a helicopter, which was certainly a dramatic and bold way to arrive at a wedding ceremony! By this time we had setup down the hill, and were expecting the first set of guests to arrive. We performed a number of musical selections and carried onto the ceremony, as soon as the wedding guests were in place. For the processional, we performed two songs the Beatles’ “Here There And Everywhere” for the 8 attendants, and the Etta James classic, At Last. During the signing, we performed Louis Armstrong’s “What A Wonderful World”. As we looked over to the signing table, the bride and groom were smiling at us and gave a wide grinned nod of approval. To conclude the ceremony, the trio played “All I Want Is You” by U2. We continued to play a few pieces of music as the guests exited back to the main building. As we were exiting, we congratulated the bride and groom, who said we did a fantastic job!

Calgary Wedding String Quartet: Marcia and Chad

“We want to say thank you so much for making our day perfect! Everyone loved the violinist and cello player. They were exactly what we were looking for. We couldn't have asked for two more polite and wonderful people to play for us. It was beautiful and they played every song that we requested. We did get a picture with them and I will send them to you when we return back from our honeymoon in Jamaica. Again it was an absolute pleasure to work with you. We will highly recommend you to everyone I know.” Marcia and Chad

Saturday April the 27th was a beautiful day for a wedding ceremony! We arrived at Vineland Estates Winery just after 4pm (returning from a performance at the Niagara Food and Wine Expo) and were greeted by the lovely Diane Teeuwsen, the director of hospitality at Vineland estates. She was working hard at getting the last minute details arranged. Shortly after the officiant, Jennifer Bellinger from All Seasons Weddings arrived, and we had a short chat about what was going to happen at the ceremony, and took a few minutes to warm up and get our prelude and ceremony music arranged. As we were working on this, we could not help but notice how beautiful the carriage house was—the back window looking out over the vineyard, and the hawks swooping and gliding in the air. Soon guests started arriving, and we started to play a number of songs from our repertoire, in particular Ave Maria which was that the couple requested.

Once everyone was seated we received a cue from the officiant to start playing, and Robin made a beautiful entrance. As the room is cozy and the aisle not very long, we were able to perform a slightly shortened version of Pachelbel Canon, which ended just as she walked to the front. For the signing of the register the couple chose Bach’s Wachet Auf. The acoustics of the carriage house brought out the best of the song, and they exited to Bittersweet Symphony. As the guests were exiting, we performed Handel’s Rejouissance

Caledonia Wedding String Quartet: Kristi and Brad

"Hey Matthew! Thank-you for the message! Day was perfect and the music was amazing! Thank you so much for everything and you sounded amazing! Thanks Again."
Kristi and Brad Hiseler

Kristi and Brad were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony, held at St Patricks Church in Caledonia which is a short distance from Hamilton ON.We performed a mixture of classic wedding music, and popular music which fit right in and sounded really great. The bridesmaids walked down to Pachelbel Canon, and Kristi walked down to Marry me by Train. For the signing the classical Ave Maria was heard and this provided a perfect backdrop and the somewhat quiet and serene music was perfect for this pat of the wedding ceremony.  Accidentally in Love was played to loud applause for the guests.

Wedding Musicians Toronto: Melody and Scott at the Ritz Carleton

Duo d’Amore was honored to participate in a wonderful winter wedding held at the Ritz Carleton in Toronto.

The music selections were somewhat traditional but with a modern twist. The bridesmaids walked in to Spring by Vivaldi. This was a great choice as I think everyone in Ontario is hoping for and end to Winter and warmer temperatures soon. Melody entered to Pachelbel Canon, followed by Bach Air for the signing of the marriage license. This piece is uniquely suited to the signing of the register, as it is quiet and introspective, but also very beautiful from the audience’s perspective. The fun twist at the end of the ceremony was the music selection for the recessional: All You Need is Love by the Beatles. This selection is just one of the hundred or so songs that we have in our Modern Repertoire and an excellent choice to walk to as man and wife.

We really appreciated the hard work of wedding planner Michelle Garber of Fabfete. We have worked with her on a number of wedding ceremonies and events and she always does an exceptional job!

Ottawa Wedding Violinist Cellist: Janice and Santiago

I just wanted to write and let you know how wonderful the music was at my wedding.  I received countless compliments and my mother almost cried during Ave Maria! Thank you for your professionalism and your extraordinary gift of music! Kind regards, Janice, bride

A short while after this wedding ceremony, we received this wonderful note from the bride thanking us for the performance. Something that is important to mention regarding the selection of music, is that while many couples put a lot of thought into the processional song, it is often the song during the signing that will resonate to the greatest effect with the guests. The processional is exciting as the bride walks down the aisle, and while the music adds to that experience, truthfully, it’s all about the bride. The signing however has the bride and groom as well as the witnesses busy with the documents and leaves the guests a very nice moment for contemplation. So—music becomes very important, and when you have a great arrangement of a song as well as great performers and an extremely experienced and professional group of wedding musicians like Duo d’Amore, the signing (as well as the rest of the event) will sound amazing which no one will fail to notice and appreciate.
