Kasandra and Rob were married at the Carriage House Inn in Calgary, and our string duo performed a great grouping of songs at their ceremony. Before the ceremony started we performed a number of songs including two that the clients had requested: Secrets by One Republic and Stereo Heats by Gym Class Hero. As the groom entered, the grooms mother and father, the brides mother and brother, another brother and his wife and maid of honor and the flower girl our string musicians performed Bittersweet symphony, and transitioned to I Think I Wanna Marry You by Bruno Mars. For the signing of the marriage license we played Can’t Help falling in Love, and we also had a backup song in case it went a bit longer than expected. The song that the bride and groom chose was I Won’t Give Up by Jason Mraz. For the recessional we performed the fantastic and upbeat Viva la Vida.

“Everything went so amazingly well for us on Saturday. The ladies were incredibly professional, very well prepared and completed the vibe of our fairytale garden ceremony perfectly! I will definitely be recommending your services whenever the opportunity presents itself. Thank you so much!” Steven, groom
The photo of this wedding and the comments from the groom really speak for themselves, as everything really came together—the beautiful weather, the excellent and helpful staff at Fairholme Manor, the beautiful bride and groom, and of course, lovely music by Duo d’Amore.

“Thanks for being there doing an awesome job! Our guests and us were enjoying the music”
We work very hard to provide our clients with a wide range of interesting music to choose from, including classical, pop, fiddle tunes rock and everything in between, and it’s always nice when clients send us their selections for each part of the ceremony, such as the processional, signing, communion, offering, sand ceremony etc. But, its also nice when the clients leave the selections up to us, and that is exactly what happened with this ceremony at the Prince House, and it was excellent and a surprise for the couple.

Wedding String Ensemble Calgary: Cavelle and Harry
Our violin and cello duo had a great time performing for this wedding, as everything went smoothly and sounded beautiful. We started by performing the classic Pachelbel’s Canon for the wedding party and bride, continuing on to Bach-Gounod’s Ave Maria during the signing (a beautiful piece and ideal for the signing of the register) and finishing off with a well chosen and upbeat Trumpet Voluntary by Jeremiah Clarke.

I’m sure that Lesley and Ian had a great time planning their wedding, as we had a great time speaking with them as well as their wedding planner, Tara O’Grady from Bliss events, who was a pleasure to work with!
Leanne and Ian hired Duo d’Amore’s string duo to perform for their ceremony. As the guests were arriving and taking their seats, we the violinist and cellist performed a mixture of classical and popular selections.
Prelude from Te Deum – Charpentier Only Time – Enya Hallelujah – Leonard Cohen Trumpet Voluntary – Clarke Trumpet Tune – Purcell Dante’s Prayer – Loreena McKennitt
During the ceremony, we performed Bach Air on the G String as the bridesmaids walked up the aisle and Bach’s Wachet Auf for the signing. For the Processional and the Recessional, Leanne ad Ian hired Ian Laing, an accomplished piper which is always a nice touch.
As the guests were exiting the Church, we had a great opportunity to resume playing a number of upbeat and celebratory pieces of music taken from both our classical and modern repertoire.

Strings for weddings Woodbridge: Rita and Kevin
May the 18th was a popular day for a wedding, and Rita and Kevin has a lovely one! They were so easy to work with and it was just wonderful working with them. Their ceremony, which included communion, was the picture of elegance, traditional and class. In our correspondence and discussion of what music they would like at the wedding, the couple used our Sample Programs on our Quote page, and chose with Classic Mass option, adding the famous Wachet Auf, or Sleepers Awake by Bach. The entire program looked like:
Bridesmaids processional: Bach Air
Bride’s processional: Pachelbel Canon in D
Signing: Bach-Gounoud: Ave Maria
Communion: Bach: Wachet Auf
Recessional: Mendellsohn: Wedding March
Besides the Pachelbel, this was a real Bach fest! Bach ‘s music works so well because it is both comforting, as many of the melodies are well known, but also because the music is so well written, and it provides lots of interest for the guests, it is easy to walk to and it is endlessly tuneful and happy. The last music on the program was Mendelssohn’s wedding March, and it resounded as Rita and Kevin’s walked out followed by their family and friends. Congratulations!

Our violin and cello duo, trio and string quartet play many different kinds of events, though most often, we are hired to perform for a wedding ceremony and cocktail hour, and sometimes the dinner as well. It’s not very often when we are hired only for the cocktail hour, but it is actually refreshing to play after the ceremony has ended, as we did at the Cecil Green Park House in Vancouver. This is a great option for brides and grooms that perhaps have the music sorted out for the ceremony, but want something special and unique, as well as upbeat and fun for the cocktail hour. As always we enjoyed every minute and received lost of compliments from the guests!

Wedding String Duo Toronto: Lora + Dave

The gardens at Fantasy farm are beautiful! It is such a nice experience to be surrounded by lush growth, beautiful flowers on a wonderfully sunny and bright afternoon. This feeling of peace and calmness carried through into Lora and Dave’s wedding, which was a true fantasy. Throughout the planning process, and especially the music song selection process, the couple was really looking forward to hearing the music that they had spent time listening to and ultimately choosing to have played as the ceremony was taking place. As Lora’s bridesmaids entered Te Deum by Charpentier was performed. After the last bridesmaid got to the front and stood beside each other, the bride entered to Pachelbel Canon in D. From this point the couple exchanged rings and vows, and they signed the register, to perhaps one of the most beautiful and appropriate selections for the signing: Bach’s Ave Maria. It always strikes me everything we play this music, how well it is written, and how many different moods it can express. Traditional, the ceremony ended as the couple triumphantly exited amidst applause to Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.
Update: A short while after the ceremony, Duo d’Amore received a wonderful notefrom the bride and groom:
“Duo d'Amore: Very professional and the cello and violinist sounded lovely! Everyone at my wedding enjoyed listening to them play, myself included. :) Thanks again! Lora G. - Toronto Wedding on June 16th, 2012.”
