Ottawa Wedding  String Quartet: Carol and Bohdan

This was a beautiful Catholic ceremony, with very traditional selections. In the process of planning the music selections, the bride was going to have a singer that unfortunately could not make it to the ceremony, but luckily we were able to work something out, and performed an instrumental version of Hallelujah by Leonard Cohen.

We often perform in Catholic weddings, and were again excited to be a part of Carol and Bohdan’s wedding day. For other couples planning a Catholic wedding, or looking for ideas for song selections, here is the listing of what this beautiful couple chose. As always we were happy to use our years of experience to make sure the music began and ended at the right points, and the songs were tailored to fit what the bride and groom wanted, with input from the Church as well.

1- fiancée (accompanied by his sister)  Clarke Trumpet Voluntary
2- wedding party (flower girls, ring bearer, bridemaids) Charpentier
Prelude from Te Deum
3- bride (accompanied by bride's mother) Pachelbel in Canon D

For the Signing

1- Hallelujah

For the Communion

1- Bach Jesu Joy of Man's Desiring
2- Bach Wachet Auf (Sleepers Awake)

For the Recessional

1- Mouret Rondeau
2- Purcell Trumpet Tune

We often perform at St Anthony’s Church on Booth St in Ottawa, and Melissa and Matt’s ceremony was another beautiful event. Many guests arrived early for the ceremony, so we started to play a selection of additional music prior to the start of the wedding ceremony. When the ceremony started, the flow and timing of everything was incredible. As wee knew the number of bridesmaids that were walking down the aisle it was easy for us to end the first piece of music which was Charpentier’s Prelude from Te Deum at exactly the right point, right when the final bridesmaid took her place. Similarly for the rest of the ceremony (most importantly the bridal processional) everything else went exceptionally well, as our playing filled the warn acoustic of the Church. The signing was the popular Bach Gounod Ave Maria, which was followed by The Wedding March by Felix Mendelssohn.

May the 18th was a popular day for a wedding, and Rita and Kevin has a lovely one! They were so easy to work with and it was just wonderful working with them. Their ceremony, which included communion, was the picture of elegance, traditional and class. In our correspondence and discussion of what music they would like at the wedding, the couple used our Sample Programs on our Quote page, and chose with Classic Mass option, adding the famous Wachet Auf, or Sleepers Awake by Bach. The entire program looked like:

Bridesmaids processional: Bach Air
Bride’s processional: Pachelbel Canon in D
Signing: Bach-Gounoud: Ave Maria
Communion: Bach: Wachet Auf
Recessional: Mendellsohn: Wedding March

Besides the Pachelbel, this was a real Bach fest! Bach ‘s music works so well because it is both comforting, as many of the melodies are well known, but also because the music is so well written, and it provides lots of interest for the guests, it is easy to walk to and it is endlessly tuneful and happy. The last music on the program was Mendelssohn’s wedding March, and it resounded as Rita and Kevin’s walked out followed by their family and friends. Congratulations!

Caledonia Wedding String Quartet: Kristi and Brad

"Hey Matthew! Thank-you for the message! Day was perfect and the music was amazing! Thank you so much for everything and you sounded amazing! Thanks Again."
Kristi and Brad Hiseler

Kristi and Brad were married in a beautiful wedding ceremony, held at St Patricks Church in Caledonia which is a short distance from Hamilton ON.We performed a mixture of classic wedding music, and popular music which fit right in and sounded really great. The bridesmaids walked down to Pachelbel Canon, and Kristi walked down to Marry me by Train. For the signing the classical Ave Maria was heard and this provided a perfect backdrop and the somewhat quiet and serene music was perfect for this pat of the wedding ceremony.  Accidentally in Love was played to loud applause for the guests.
