Wedding violinist cellist Cambridge Mill

Melanie and Andrew were looking to create a fun, eclectic, yet still classically styled wedding with the music following suit.

We always want to ease guests into the wedding experience with beautiful prelude music—music that is not too upbeat but still have some movement and energy, though on the lighter side to make guests feel welcomed. For this the lovely couple chose pop selections such as Can't Help Falling in Love by Elvis Presley, Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia and A Thousand Years by Christina Perri to be performed.

Once the ceremony was about to start, the bridesmaids walked down the beautiful aisle in the pavilion of the Cambridge Mill to Beyonce’s Halo. The piece is actually kind of surprising, as it reflects a very classical sensibility. It is a perfect choice to walk to as well, and one that we often recommend.

For Melanie’s processional, the string ensemble performed Beautiful Day by U2. During the signing of the register we also performed a very non traditional selection (but one which the groom was particularly excited to hear) the Top Gun Anthem.

When the officiant pronounced and introduced the couple the violinist and cellist played a great rendition of I think I want to marry you by Bruno Mars. It is always lovely to play at the Cambridge Mill (and the acoustics really enhance and amplify the strings) and we can’t wait to be back!

Wedding String Quartet Cambridge Mill: Tracy and Jack

Our string ensemble has performed at the Cambridge Mill for many years, but it was our first time performing in the brand new chapel, which is beautiful. The music the clients selected for the ceremony was an all classical program, combining traditional wedding music, with a slight twist at the end that everyone enjoyed. Before the ceremony stated our violinist and cellist performed a mixture of light classical music for the guest seating. With the start of the ceremony, the first piece performed was Bach’s Air on the G string as the bridal party walked up the aisle. This is an excellent choice for the bridesmaids, as the music is well known, as well as light and flowing. The bridal processional was the even more famous Pachelbel Canon in D, and we were happy to perform it as the bride walked up the aisle. Then came the exchange of rings, vows of the ceremony and the kiss. To make the marriage official, the couple signed the register and we performed another piece by Bach called Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring. Like the bridesmaids music, this piece also has a very nice flow to it. As well it is quite long, but always interesting which makes it a great choice for the signing. The recessional was Vivaldi’s Spring from the Four Seasons, which is always a delight, but especially in October, and even more so for a wedding ceremony as it symbolizes the couple’s rebirth of love for one another through marriage.
