Wedding String Quartet Toronto: Rica and Philip at Le Select Bistro

Though we love performing Churches, Cathedrals and sacred venues, both big and small, there is something unique and special about performing in a more intimate secular space, like Le Select Bistro. Musically, clients typically have a great deal more freedom with music choices, and Rica and Philip certainly made the best of that freedom, selecting an elegant, personal but appropriate selection of songs that also had a nod to more contemporary and popular selections.

Also nice was the inclusion of the first movement of Bach’s Cello Suite number one for the signing. This is not done often, but it worked extremely well!

Prelude: Handel and 'Beautiful Day by U2 plus 'Something' by the Beatles
Bridesmaids: Bach Air on the G string
Bride entrance: Pachelbel: Canon
Signing : First movement of Bach cello suite #1
Exit music: Journey - don't stop believing

Venue: Le Select Bistro, Erin, coordinator
Wedding music: Duo d’Amore-string duos, trios and quartets

Toronto Wedding String Trio: Melissa and Aaron

Melissa and Aaron hired our string trio to perform for the wedding ceremony as well as a cocktail reception, following shortly after at Hazelton Manor in Vaughan. Our musicians arrived and started to perform around 1:45, as the ceremony was scheduled to begin at 2pm. The music selections worked out well, as the clients were able to personalize the music played as the bride walked down the aisle, and we were happy as always to accommodate the request of Never Say Never by the Fray.

After the guests had exited we drove to the reception location, and performed a selection of fun and upbeat, playful pop music, which everyone enjoyed.

Wedding String Trio Burlington ON

There is no question that the city of Burlington has some beautiful venues, but we and our clients always fall hard for Spencer’s. The venue’s angled glass room is very modern, while the service and the attention to detail from the staff has been honed for years, so it’s no secret that we love to perform here. The clients requested a mixture of classical and pop music during the wedding ceremony, with classical coming to the forefront. The bridesmaid’s processional was Bach’s Sheep May Safely Graze, and this piece is a beautiful way to ease into the ceremony. As the brie walked down the aisle, the music shifted slightly to a Bach’s Air. This song has a wonderful octave leaps in the bass, which helps to anchor the sound and give the song a great footing to support the soaring and smooth upper line played by the violin. Of course, all of this is accentuated and highlighted by the beautiful acoustic in the room. Still sticking with Bach, the next time the string trio performed in the ceremony was when the papers were being signed. Bach’s Jesu Joy is a natural fit in keeping with the ‘Bach” theme. As the couple exited just after the officiant announced their marriage, we performed the upbeat and exciting (also very popular) Viva la Vida by Coldplay.

Wedding String Duo Toronto: Lora + Dave

The gardens at Fantasy farm are beautiful! It is such a nice experience to be surrounded by lush growth, beautiful flowers on a wonderfully sunny and bright afternoon. This feeling of peace and calmness carried through into Lora and Dave’s wedding, which was a true fantasy. Throughout the planning process, and especially the music song selection process, the couple was really looking forward to hearing the music that they had spent time listening to and ultimately choosing to have played as the ceremony was taking place. As Lora’s bridesmaids entered Te Deum by Charpentier was performed. After the last bridesmaid got to the front and stood beside each other, the bride entered to Pachelbel Canon in D. From this point the couple exchanged rings and vows, and they signed the register, to perhaps one of the most beautiful and appropriate selections for the signing: Bach’s Ave Maria. It always strikes me everything we play this music, how well it is written, and how many different moods it can express. Traditional, the ceremony ended as the couple triumphantly exited amidst applause to Mendelssohn’s Wedding March.

Update: A short while after the ceremony, Duo d’Amore received a wonderful notefrom the bride and groom:
“Duo d'Amore: Very professional and the cello and violinist sounded lovely! Everyone at my wedding enjoyed listening to them play, myself included. :) Thanks again! Lora G. - Toronto Wedding on June 16th, 2012.”

Wedding String Quartet Toronto: Cheryl And Joseph

We were honored to take part in Cheryl and Josephs wedding ceremony, which was held at the courtyard of the Liberty Grand. Though we perform here often, it is always amazing too see the same beautiful surroundings, but have the chance to perform ceremonies that are completely different, reflecting the tastes and wishes of our clients. Cheryl and Joseph, had a traditional and not so traditional wedding, wonderfully incorporating some Jewish elements into the ceremony. During the ceremony, they chose Handel Air from the Water music, and two compositions by Bach to enhance the day: Wachet Auf, or Sleepers Awake and Jesu Joy of Man’s desiring. Mazel tov!
