Ravine vineyard is located in the heart of Niagara, and unlike many of Niagara wineries, rather than a flat landscape, Ravine Vineyards landscape is full of rolling hills and beautiful vistas, which makes for a magical location for a wedding. In speaking with Laura and Matt weeks and months prior to the wedding, they decided on having classical music played by the violin and cello prior to the wedding, and a mix of classical for the ceremony itself (see below). The ceremony was officiated by John Shore from Kettle Creek Weddings, who did a marvelous job, and was happy to work with us again. After the ceremony ended, the guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d’ouevres at the stunning outdoor bar, which we performed many of the clients favorite pop songs. As usual, everything was spectacular, thanks to Ravine and especially Lis from Bliss!

This ceremony took place in the lower ballroom of the Vaughan Estate in the grand and elegant Estates of Sunnybrook. An interesting feature of this ceremony was the signing music. Of course the bridal processional is very dramatic, and the recessional is full of energy, with clapping and excitement of the guests, but it was the music the clients chose for the signing that stood out for us. The signing is the point in the ceremony where there is not much going on, perhaps the least exciting point, even. The bride and groom are just signing documents. However, this is a spot where like the processional the music really has am important part to play. I have to congratulate Natasha and Michael on their choice of Unchained Melody. Not only is it a song that many people will recognize, albeit in a different arrangement for violin and cello duo, but it is one that will keep peoples interest in an elegant and understated way prior to the recessional.

The bride and groom were married in the spacious and striking Blessed Sacrament Church in Ottawa. As we have performed at this venue in the past, the ceremony flowed effortlessly. One of the nice things is we were able to include quite a bit of music. As performing music is our passion, and we want to fill the service with music, we thought that the choices and the order of songs worked our perfectly.

Indoor weddings in the summer are just great—we are always happy to perform indoors and many of the guests often greatly prefer indoor wedding to outdoor, especially in August, and especially if you have elderly or young children at the event. In the case of a heat wave or cold and damp weather, a Church wedding or other indoor location will always go off without a hitch! This was a very nice wedding, which combined the traditional church wedding with a number of modern and popular music choices, which received a number of positive comments from the guests.

“You have been so great to work with in planning our music and I appreciate it!” Megan, bride

Once again, we were honored to take part is such a beautiful wedding ceremony. This ceremony really reflected the bride and groom, as they worked hard to choose music that reflected the both of them: modern but with a real sense of occasion and style. We performed Secrets by one republic for the bridesmaids, followed by a great rendition of A Thousand Years by Christina Perry. This song is sure to become a wedding classic and we are so pleased when clients ask us to play this as it works so well. The couple also had a unity candle and a signing of the register where our violinist and cellist performed All I want is U2 by Bono/U2, and we finished off with Today by the Smashing Pumpkins! What a great mix of music!

Rockcliffe Park Pavilion is an ideal spot for live music, especially a wedding ceremony! Our violin and cello duo performed two songs for the processional—one for the bridesmaids (Trumpet Tune) and a separate song for the bride to make her grand entrance (Pachelbel Canon). When the time came for the signing of the register our violinist and cellist performed the wedding classic Ave Maria (the Bach-Gounod version) and quickly switched to Mendelsohn’s wedding March as the newlyweds walked down to aisle.

Having performed at a number of Fairmont hotels across Canada, it was lovely to perform for a cocktail reception on the balcony of the Fairmont Palliser in Calgary. We received many comments about the great performance by our string ensemble. This was our first time performing at Glencoe Gold and Country Club, and we would love to perform there again, as everything was exceptional. Regarding music song selections, our clients chose very classical and beautiful music to accompany the ceremony. It was also nice that they added a sand ceremony to the wedding, and this is a great opportunity for a very simple and quite short piece of music—in this case our musicians performed Amazing Grace which added a nice touch to the wedding ceremony at the beautiful outdoor location at Glencoe Golf Course in Calgary.
