Andrea and Brian’s wedding ceremony at U of T Trinity College Chapel, September 22, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto ON

“We've just returned from our Honeymoon. We wanted to write you much earlier as our wedding was on September 22 at Trinity Chapel. Having Duo d'Amore play at our wedding was simply brilliant!! I can't thank you enough as I've never heard a string duo sound so clear and melodic. "Sayuri's Theme" was spectacular. I've listened to that song countless times before, and on that day it never sounded so good. So many of our guests have complimented on how perfect the music was. Please give (the musicians) our warmest Thank You’s from Brian and I”. Andrea and Brian

As you can tell from the picture, this wedding was simply beautiful! We had a lovley time discussing and planning the music for the wedding ceremony with Andre and Brian, and this translated into a wonderful performance, with the bride and groom and everyone in attendance being extremely happy and satisfied. One unique thing about this ceremony was the couple’s choice to use Pachelbel’s Canon. Normally this song is performed during the processional, but I think this is the first time that our musicians have performed it during the signing! And guess what—it was fantastic!

Jacqueline and Scott’s wedding at the Galt Country Club, September 22, 2012, string trio, Cambridge ON

Our string duo trio and string quartet performs lots of different types of music at wedding ceremonies, from classical, to pop, fusion, the Beatles, and everything in between. While we enjoy the variety, sometimes it is wonderful to perform classic wedding music. This music is just perfectly suited to the different times in the ceremony, and we received many comments from the guests about our musicians beautiful performance.

Jackie and Michael’s wedding ceremony at Saint John the Baptist Parish, September 22, 2012, violin and cello duo, Guelph ON

This wedding ceremony highlighted many of the elements that make wedding ceremonies a joy to perform at. As the f=guests were arriving, the violinist and cellist performed a modern set of music that was lively, upbeat, fun with a few slower songs mixed in as well. This prelude created some of the wow factor for the guests, as a number were somewhat surprised (in a good way!) to hear such modern music performed on the more classical violin and cello. Once all the guests had taken their seats, we were given the cue to start the music for the bridesmaid’s processional, which was Bach’s Air. This is a perennial favorite for the bridesmaid’s music, as it creates a lovely and fresh mood to start off the ceremony. This music contrasted very well with the brides processional that followed—the famous Pachelbel Canon in D. The signing music was a hybrid piece, part of which was written by JS Bach in the 18th century, and was almost “remixed” in the 19th century by the French composer Gounod. This is an absolutely stunning piece of music in it’s own right, and like the bridesmaids music, it too is a popular favorite for the signing of the register. The recessional was the up-tempo, and regal Clarke Trumpet Voluntary, and it capped off the ceremony with wonderful energy and fanfare.

JD and Izabella’s surprise anniversary aboard the Captain’s Impatient, violin and cello duo, September 22, 2012, Vancouver BC

“Thank you very much for everything. The players were excellent and everything went off without a hitch.”

This was a really fun event, and the surprise part of the occasion made everything that more exciting. The plan was to have Duo d’Amore’s violinist and cellist come on board the ship by 6pm, and hide in the front guestroom. Izabella (girlfriend) is being brought aboard on the premise that JD (boyfriend) is dropping off wine for a friend of my family. The idea is that she will just think that we get a 20 min boat ride with some champagne as JD’s 5 year anniversary gift to her. Once we finish the tour of the boat upstairs the musicians and photographer set themselves up in the main lobby to take a picture with the Vancouver skyline in the background and have wonderful music playing at the same time. The string duo continued to perform a selection of classical music throughout the dinner. What a fantastic event!

Candace and Matthew’s wedding ceremony at the Mill Race Park of the Cambridge Mill, September 21, 2012, violin and cello duo, Cambridge ON

This is such a beautiful venue! Despite performing here for almost a decade, we always love to be close to the water, and to enjoy the sense of history that this venue has. On the flip side, when you step inside the venue, things are quite modern, new and exciting—a really great blend of traditional and modern. As far as our performance goes, and partly because of the outdoor venue, built in the 19th century, the couple chose a perfect collection of classical music to accompany them, and their guests during the ceremony. Pachelbel Canon needs no introduction, as it perfectly suits the walk down the aisle. The signing music was by Bach, and we often say this music has a wonderful flow to it—this is really brought out when performing it next to the beautiful river. Finally for the recessional, the stately and spirited Rondeau by Mouret.

Andrea and Hadley’s wedding ceremony at Graydon hall, September 21, 2012, violin and cello duo, Toronto

September is a wonderful time to have a wedding, as the extreme heat of July and August has faded into the beautiful warm but slightly cool weather of early fall. Speaking of weather the weather for this outdoor ceremony was perfect—sunny but not too bright and a great temperature throughout the ceremony. Getting to the music, the violin and cello duo performed a very classical, and traditional wedding ceremony at the beautiful garden at Graydon hall. This was a wedding to remember!
