String Quartet Toronto Wedding

Duo d'Amore is a string ensemble made up of violin and cello soloists, violin and cello duos, string trios and string quartets, and we perform in Toronto, the GTA, and across Canada.

We make the whole process of wedding music planning easy and fun for our clients, and we believe that every wedding and event should be unique and reflect exactly what you the client wants. How do we do that? Personal service and passionate performance. Matthew the owner is always available and is quick to answer emails and phone calls. Something else to consider is that when it comes to the music, Duo d'Amore is proud to offer one of the largest collections of music for string ensemble in Canada, so there is lots of music both pop and classical to choose from.

Alana + Fraser’s wedding ceremony in the conservatory of Casa Loma, September 27, 2014, string trio, Toronto wedding musicians

The mother of the groom contacted Duo d’Amore looking for music for her sons wedding ceremony at Casa Loma. Deciding between a violin and cello duo,  string trio and a string quartet, they couple chose the string trio. The trio is midway between the duo and quartet, and it’s a slightly more full sounding ensemble than the string duo, which works well in a space like the beautiful conservatory.

For the prelude prior to the ceremony, we typically a selection of classical pieces, and this worked out well as the clients requested that we perform selections by Vivaldi, Bach and other composers whose music is light and airy. This type of music really helps to set the mood as guests take their seats, and again in such a beautiful location, the music really adds to the whole experience.

During the ceremony, we performed Pachelbel Canon in D as the bride walked up the aisle, and more modern music for the signing of the register. When there is slightly more upbeat pop music as opposed to classical, we always advise our clients to choose two songs rather than one, as signings can last as long as 8 minutes. Having two songs that work well together just provides that extra bit of insurance that there will be enough music to last for the whole signing, and keeps the guests entertained with something special that they might not expect. For the recessional we performed the very popular Marry you by Bruno Mars for a beautiful conclusion to a beautiful wedding ceremony.

Wedding ceremony music Toronto: Duo d’Amore-violin and cello duos, string trios and string quartets

Our ceremony was beautiful.  I was nervous and there were many things going on for me to recall the whole performance but parts of my recollection was how beautiful and a great complimentary the performance was.  Please thank the musicians for me that played once again as my husband and I thank you from our hearts for the excellent pieces that the two ladies did at our wedding.” Thuy, bride

We always enjoy performing at Casa Loma, and this wedding ceremony was no exception. The venue as as you can imagine (if you have never been there) is a large gothic revival building, which has the feel and grandeur of a castle. In planning the music selections, Thuy and John chose selections from the traditional classical repertoire that fit perfectly with their tastes, and matched the style of the wedding, as well as the style of the venue as a whole. Our violinist and cellist set up prior to the main arrival of the guests, and as the guests entered performed several selections of classical music to set and fit the mood, including movements from Handel’s Water Music. As with most wedding ceremonies, the ceremony begins with the bridesmaids walk down the aisle. Thuy and John really took advantage of the large aisle, and had a processional with considerable style: they not only had the bridesmaids walk down the aisle, but also included family members, flower girls and a whole procession of people, and they chose the wonderfully flowing and happy Jesu Joy of Man’s Desiring, which was an absolutely perfect fit. The bride walked down to Pachelbel’s Canon (again, perfect) then there was a break in the music for the important vows, and kiss. For the signing of the marriage documents, Duo d’Amore performed Bach’s Air on the G-string, which is one of our favorites, especially for the signing. As the couple was introduced, we performed Mendelsohn’s Wedding March.

Our violin and cello duo had an incredible time performing for the Toronto Launch party for the latest DVD release of HBO's Game of Thrones. The event was held at the beautiful Berkley Church, and decorated in the Medieval style--suits of armour and dragons and a huge video screen playing clips from the show. For entertainment there was sword-fighting and fire juggling as well as Duo d'Amore performing the theme from Game of Thrones and the Rains of Castemere.
