Jana + Mark’s wedding at Q Haute Cuisine, June 18, 2016, Calgary wedding music

“Thanks so much for everything—it was perfect!” Jana, bride

This ceremony was really fun and lighthearted, and we were excited to perform at Q Haute Cuisine, as this was a new venue in Calgary for us. Jana and Mark opted for our most popular ensemble, the violin and cello duo. The couple did a great job choosing their song selections, as everything fit perfectly, and was timed brilliantly. The prelude songs worked very well, as most often we perform all classical or a mix of pop and classical, which helps to create a calm, relaxing mood. In this case, the couple chose all pop, and the right songs make all the difference! During the ceremony, the music switched to classical, and again everything fit wonderfully. I love the combination of Bach Air with Pachelbel’s Canon. Jesu Joy (also by Bach) is an exceptional signing song, and ending with Bittersweet Symphony for that burst of energy as the couple exits was the perfect touch!

Isreal kamakawiwo'ole - Somewhere Over The Rainbow

Louis Armstrong - What a wonderful World

Genevieve + Ralph’s wedding ceremony at Azuridge Estate, October 11, 2014, violin and cello duo, Calgary Wedding Ceremony Musicians

Genevieve was a true pleasure to talk with throughout the music planning process, and her ceremony was nothing short of fantastic. Music was bright, light and combined classical music which our violin and cello player performed for the prelude and processional (Pachelbel Canon). The groom and his parents walked into U2’s Beautiful Day and for the signing of the register we performed Fix You by Coldplay.

And it truly was a beautiful day. Originally the ceremony was supposed to be held inside at Azuridge Estate, but as the mercury climbed almost to 18C, the ceremony was moved outdoors, and we were happy to accommodate!

Amber and Ryan’s wedding ceremony at Triwood community center, Collingwood hall, September 29, 2012, string trio, Calgary AB

Amber and Ryan and a lovely wedding at the Triwood community center. They hired our string trio to perform a selection of classical baroque music for the major parts of the ceremony, and then added a modern song at the end, which is trending at the moment. (and it’s a great idea!). The Community center has a great space to perform in, and because of the wood ceiling and the concrete floors this created a very live acoustic for the musicians and of course the guests. Once again, Duo d’Amore was thrilled to be a part of such a gorgeous wedding ceremony. Congratulations Amber and Ryan.

Processional (Bridesmaids) – Charpentier: Prelude from Te Deum
Processional (Bride) – Pachelbel: Canon in D
Signing – Vivaldi: Winter from the Four Seasons
Recessional – The Verve: Bittersweet Symphony
