Miriam Stewart-Kroeker is a young, emerging cellist based in Kitchener-Waterloo, and recent graduate of McGill University with a Master’s degree in cello performance under the direction of Matt Haimovitz. Miriam performs frequently with the Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony, and holds the principal positions with the Stratford Symphony and the Georgian Bay Symphony.

Shima Takeda is a freelance violinist who currently lives and works in Victoria, British Columbia. Born and raised in the city of Surrey in Greater Vancouver, Shima began violin lessons with Lucille Lewis at the age of four, and piano lessons at the age of ten. While living on the lower mainland, Shima attained her ARCT certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music of Toronto – the most advanced certificate offered by that institution – and she performed with the Surrey Symphony Society and the Vancouver Metropolitan Orchestra. She later came to the island in order to attend the University of Victoria where she studied violin with Christi Meyers (assistant concertmaster of the Victoria Symphony) and Ann Elliott-Goldschmid (the first violinist of the Lafayette String Quartet).
